Platform: Hybrid Windows/Mac Publisher: CybrCard, L.P. Release Date: 1997 Developer: International Data Operations, Inc. Genre: Home |
Officially licensed by the NFL and Players, Inc., each CD-ROM in NFL CybrCard Series 2 features one of 12 stars from the 1996 NFL season. Aside from dropping Topps from the series name, differences from Series 1 include changed in-program section names and elimination of card numbering. The content of the CD remains consistent with the first series and offers complete player statistics (season and career), full-motion video action and sound clips from NFL Films, animated play book diagrams, play analyses, scouting information and NFL trivia.
Each CD has five main sections dedicated to the particular star being profiled: Statistics, Press Room, Head Coach's Office, Scouting Department and Film Room. The statistics section provides 1996 seasonal and single game highlights, post season and game-by-game numbers as well as career stats, match-ups and on-the-road numbers. The Press Room is filled with article clippings from various newspapers and other print sources while the Head Coach's Office provides an inside look at chalkboard play analyses with live audio accompanying animated X & O depictions of each play.
The Scouting Department offers a statistical breakdown of the plays each star participated in during the season from 25 different field perspectives displayed in matrix format. The vertical side of the matrix contains five yardage situations (behind the line, 1-10 yards, 11-20, 21-30 and 31+) and across the top are five columns representing left sideline, left side, middle, right side and right side line sections of the field. The Film Room contains live action video clips supplied by NFL Films.
Other features include a Trivia Game for one or two players and the End Zone with print, audio and film credits, a checklist, a link to the official CybrCard website and previews of other CDs in Series 2. The series is designed for use on both PC and Macintosh platforms and supports a mouse point-and-click interface. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
