Product Description

The $100,000 Pyramid is a video game adaptation of the Emmy Award winning television word-association game show. Although this version offers a hundred grand in game money, the television show has aired in multiple variations with different hosts and other prize amounts.

Up to four human players can participate. In two-player mode, both are on the same team while the four-player game features two teams. In a single player game, you are given a sentence clue in addition to a word clue. The word you must type in to solve the puzzle is associated with the word clue in some form and also has to do with the sentence clue.

In team play, only one member of each team is allowed to see the computer screen. This player is the clue giver and, after seeing the word his or her partner must guess, has to give verbal clues. The person trying to guess listens to the clues and, by associating them with the clue given by the category name, tries to determine the correct word displayed on the computer screen.

Both modes have seven words to guess per category and a limited amount of time in which the players must guess as many of the words as possible. The game also includes a special 7-11 bonus hidden in one of the regular categories. If the player manages to guess all seven words within that category before time runs out, he's awarded $11,000 in game money.

Aside from the absence of long-time host Dick Clark, the game follows the flow and structure of the television show quite faithfully. Victors are awarded a trip to the "Winner's Circle" where they try to work their way up the pyramid of puzzles by correctly guessing the category-based answers from clues involving items and objects that fit the category. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
